The long-awaited Gossip Girl reboot premiered on HBO Max on July 8, sending millennial Twitter into a frenzy. Now, ahead of the release of the second half of season one, here’s an overview of everything that’s been revealed so far.

Is there a trailer for Gossip Girl Part 2?

On November 10, HBO Max released the official trailer for Gossip Girl Part 2. It opens with the cast—Jordan Alexander’s Julien, Thomas Doherty’s Max, Eli Brown’s Obie, Evan Mock’s Aki, and Whitney Peak’s Zoya—receiving a Gossip Girl blast declaring that their story is far from over. Cut to Julien having a dream about kissing Obie on the streets of New York; Aki, Max, and Audrey (Emily Alyn Lind) lying in bed together; and Zoya telling Julien, “We’re not sisters. We’re not friends. We’re nothing.” There are also wild nights out, spectacular outfits, and obscenely expensive jewelry—in short, everything that made the first part of season one so irresistible. The other talking points? Audrey locking lips with a mystery guy, Julien is being canceled, a Thanksgiving feast being served (in the grand tradition of Gossip Girl Thanksgiving episodes), and someone seemingly being thrown into a chocolate fountain à la Rachel Zoe in the fourth season of the original show.

It’s caused almost as much of a stir as the trailer for part one, which featured scheming, barbed exchanges and a Christopher John Rogers show, all set to Frank Ocean’s “Super Rich Kids.”

When and where is the Gossip Girl reboot set?

Gossip Girl 2.0 picked up eight years after Dan Humphrey shuttered the Gossip Girl blog. Like the original series, the reboot takes place primarily on the Upper East Side, with much of the action revolving around the fictional private schools of Constance Billard and St Jude’s. In the first half of season one, the teens also frequent sleek downtown restaurants and Brooklyn members’ clubs.

Who is in the cast of the Gossip Girl reboot, then?

In the spring of 2020, Emily Alyn Lind was unveiled as Audrey, the reboot’s answer to Serena van der Woodsen. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Whitney Peak and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists’s Eli Brown also have starring roles, as does singer and actor Jordan Alexander. Lethal Weapon’s Jonathan Fernandez and Broadway’s Jason Gotay will appear as secondary characters throughout the show’s run. Perhaps the most interesting addition to the cast? Original influencer Tavi Gevinson, whose pre-Instagram fashion blog, Style Rookie, became a phenomenon—and propelled the then 11-year-old to prime spots on the front row during Fashion Week.

Who’s writing and producing the Gossip Girl reboot?

Joshua Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creators of the original TV adaptation, are serving as executive producers on the new series alongside Joshua Safran, an executive producer of Gossip Girl 1.0, who wrote the revival.

What’s the release date for Gossip Girl Part 2?

Gossip Girl Part 2 will return to HBO Max on November 25, with fresh episodes set to be released each week.

How many episodes will be in Gossip Girl Part 2?

Gossip Girl Part 2 will be made up of six episodes, but, thankfully, it won’t end there. HBO Max has already renewed the show for a second season. Breathe easy, Upper East Siders.
